In Daniw, we provide one-on-one mentoring that gives young women individual advancement and personal development leading them to have fulfilling lives.
What’s mentoring all about?
Mentoring is about people helping you to have a fulfilling life. It helps improve your self-confidence, improve your attitudes, increase your interest in studying and involvement in meaningful projects, -expand your concern for others and improve relationships with peers and families.
What do mentors do with young people like us?
Mentors are caring adults—they do not have to have a background in teaching or youth development to be a good mentor. They just have to care and be good listeners, offering support and encouragement. You and your mentor can decide together what you are are going to do each time you meet: Talk, read a book together, do sports, work on a hobby or project together, etc.
Where does mentoring take place?
You may choose different settings such as Daniw, school campus, cafes, online, etc.
How often is mentoring done?
A proven effective mentoring is done weekly usually less than an hour.
Do young people really like mentoring?
“Being young, I don’t have as much experience as a mentor would have. Having someone who is more knowledgeable can help me in all my aspects of my life.”
—Anna Castro, PAREF Rosehill
“It shows you a different perspective-when you’re in need of guidance in making crucial decisions. The mentor shows you the different factors that you have to consider. “
—Karen Racelis, UP Diliman
